Cafmeyer Gallery

Cafmeyer Gallery

The problem

Cafmeyer Art Gallery is an established name in our coastal town of Knokke. Cafmeyer Gallery represents various established, mid-career, and emerging artists. The gallery was completely renovated in 2020, but Oliver, the gallery owner, felt that the acoustics could be improved. Conversations with potential customers were difficult due to excessive reverberation, and vernissages were also far too noisy. It was high time for a thorough approach. High time for COUST!

Our solution

A reverberation time of 2.2 seconds was measured in the front section of the gallery. In the middle section, it was 2.4 seconds. Oliver certainly hadn't exaggerated!

The reverberation was reduced to 1 and 1.55 seconds respectively with two enormous but discreet COUSTceilings (ceiling panels) – covering a total surface area of 24 m² of absorption material. What's more, the Coust installers had to work very carefully because the works of art on display here are, of course, priceless gems.

Result

Oliver couldn't believe his ears. He was so happy with the result. He told us that the atmosphere in his art gallery is now much more pleasant and that he is no longer tired in the evenings from the disturbing echo. He was so enthusiastic that he sent COUST to his brother Dave's company, where we will soon be tackling the acoustics as well.
