Chapel of Sister Vincentius

Chapel of Sister Vincentius

The problem

Sister Vincentius Chapel was often used for seminars and musical performances but suffered from poor acoustics. The reverberation was too strong for speech, making events such as lectures or conferences difficult to follow. At the same time, the chapel had recently invested in a new organ, which benefited from the reverberation for optimal sound. The challenge was to find a solution that would improve the acoustics for speech-oriented activities without interfering with the organ.

Our solution

COUST devised a flexible solution: movable acoustic screens and COUST bases. These panels and columns improve the acoustics during seminars but can easily be moved aside for musical performances with the organ. To make it as easy as possible for the customer, the panels and columns were fitted with handles and large wheels, making them easy to move, even on the chapel's uneven floors. This ensured that the space could be adapted to the activity in no time at all.

Result

The chapel is now much more versatile: the poor acoustics during lectures and performances have been remedied, while the organ can still sound its best when reverberation is desired. The customer was very satisfied with the flexibility and ease of use of the solution. Thanks to the movable panels, the chapel can now switch seamlessly between serene seminars and impressive musical performances.
