As a global leader in marine engineering and environmental solutions, DEME Group maintains high standards for its working environment. At the headquarters in Zwijndrecht poor acoustics posed a significant challenge. COUST Acoustics was brought in to enhance concentration and eliminate disruptive reverberation.
The first phase of the project focused on the core of the operations: the meeting rooms and the contact center. In these zones, high reverberation times caused fatigue during meetings and a lack of privacy between desk islands.
COUST achieved an effective transformation using high-quality acoustic walls and screens:
The success of the first phase led to a second challenge in the coffee corner. Here, the echo had to be reduced with a solution that followed the complex lines of the sloped ceiling, while accounting for ventilation ducts and designer lighting.
With extreme precision, COUST developed three custom-made acoustic ceiling elements (COUSTbreezes). With adjustable corner connectors, we were able to follow the sharp angles of the ceiling. An additional COUSTwall at the same height ensured a visually uniform and calm result.
Through the close collaboration between DEME and COUST, the headquarters has been transformed into an environment where efficiency and well-being go hand in hand. Whether it is an intensive meeting or a relaxed coffee break: disruptive echo is a thing of the past.
This project proves that top technical performance in acoustic treatment can perfectly coexist with a warm and modern interior design.
