The cafeteria at Estée Lauder's headquarters suffered from disruptive echoes caused by the many glass walls, low ceilings, and the hustle and bustle during lunch breaks.
COUST was called in to tackle this acoustic challenge, and in 2021 the space underwent a thorough renovation. The goal was to provide employees with a pleasant and quiet environment for lunch and breaks.
The ceilings of the oval-shaped canteen consisted of individual pitched roofs with various penetrations, hooks, fire alarms, and sprinkler elements—a complex challenge that COUST was happy to take on.
Our professional measurements showed that the reverberation time in the room was 1.6 seconds. To reduce this to a pleasant 0.9 seconds, 94 m² of acoustic solutions were required. In consultation with the customer, we created an aesthetic and functional whole, with our craftsmen installing COUSTceilings.
Sixteen custom-made ceiling panels measuring 122 x 482 cm, including integrated lighting elements, were constructed on site.
After several days of hard work, the beautiful result was not only visible but also clearly audible. From that moment on, employees could enjoy their lunch in the canteen in peace and quiet. The customer was extremely satisfied, and we were proud to have brought this wonderful project to a successful conclusion.
