General practice Jan Francis

The problem

Not only new constructions or modern glass buildings can suffer from poor acoustics. Ordinary homes with flat plaster and many hard materials in the furnishings can also suffer. This was also the case at Dr. Jan Fransis' general practice. When the fall of 2017 arrived, he decided to have us improve the acoustics in his practice. After all, both in his practice room and in the waiting room, he was experiencing a very unpleasant chilly sound and reverberation.

Our solution

And he was absolutely right: our acoustical specialist's on-site reverberation measurement indicated a reverberation time of 1.1 seconds in the doctor's office and 1.5 seconds in the waiting room. A reverberation time of 1.1 seconds in a doctor's office is far too high to comfortably hold confidential conversations. Two custom-made ceiling panels (COUSTceilings), one above the desk and one above the examination table, definitively eliminated the reverberation and reduced it to 0.7 seconds.

Result

Also in the waiting room we wished to reduce the reverberation to 0.7 seconds. For this purpose, we installed a ceiling panel along almost the entire length of the room. For additional absorption, we installed another unobtrusive wall solution (COUSTwall) on the wall to the private residence, in a sober beige color.
