The problem

The problem

In 2019, someone contacted us from Leiepoort Deinze, a high school in the center of Deinze. On the Sint-Hendrik campus, they had converted a large chapel into a multipurpose room that sometimes served as a classroom, sometimes as a reception area,... There was already a perforated gyproc ceiling, but this had not improved the acoustics in the room. So it was up to us to put an end to this situation and definitively improve the acoustics here.

Our solution

Our solution

In the reverberation measurement, we could still measure a reverberation time of up to 1.8 seconds. This is a very unpleasant situation for many people to congregate in. Different solutions were discussed with the management: we would reduce the reverberation time to 1 second. Not an optimal situation with a reverberation time of 0.8 seconds, but still a huge improvement that was in the offing.

Result

Result

Since the ceiling was already occupied by the perforated gyproc sheets, we could only provide solutions on the walls and even the furniture. Here we got creative. At the very front of the room we placed a very large acoustic wall covering (COUSTwall) which would be used as a projector wall. On the left side of the hall, some acoustic wall panels (COUSTpanels) were placed in the same black color as the walls. The whole was finished off with some COUSTpanels that were perfectly placed on the back of some of the cabinets present, also in black. This way we brought a total of 40 m² of extra acoustic material into the room, which improved the acoustics sufficiently. The client was very satisfied with our approach and the result.
