The problem
The Gent-Sleidinge Psychiatric Center was suffering from very poor acoustics. More specifically, in the Lieven Bauwens-zaal, a room in which important meetings took place. Holding these meetings was made more difficult because people could not hear each other very well. We went by to propose a solution and were given the confidence to complete the job successfully.
Our solution
We tackled two spaces. In one room we placed three large, beautiful acoustic ceiling panels (COUSTceilings) 122 x 450 cm in size with plain white cloths. In these, we integrated 1 passage for the electricity of the smoke detector. The second room we provided 2 COUSTceilings of 300 x 200 cm, also in plain white cloths to integrate as inconspicuously as possible into the room.
Result
All ceilings were aligned relative to each other and nicely centered in the room. By installing our high-quality absorbent materials, a reverberation time of almost 1.7 seconds was thus reduced to a pleasant, normal reverberation time of only 0.8 seconds. Meetings in this important room could now once again take place in peace with optimal acoustics.
