The problem
In 2019, construction company Wycor from Wetteren contacted us again. In the past, we already worked together on a project. This time they were looking for a suitable party to improve the acoustics in the renovated dining room of the main building of the RVA in the heart of Brussels. With us, of course, they came to the right place.
Our solution
The reverberation time in the dining room was as high as 2.3 seconds, a very high reverberation time and thus absolutely unacceptable for this space. In consultation with the project's interior designer, it was decided to completely fill the spaces between the concrete beams in the ceiling with 12 large-format acoustic ceiling panels (COUSTceilings). At the same time, the client wanted to take advantage of the opportunity to integrate indirect LED lighting into our ceiling panels. So before installation, the electrician first provided LED strips, lowered by 57 mm (the thickness of our panels). This allowed us to connect our acoustic ceilings to this nicely and maintain the clean look of the whole thing.
Result
By installing nearly 160 m² of our acoustic materials, we were able to present a reverberation time as low as 0.75 seconds after installation! A phenomenal result.
